the fountain that would be...

Thought I would share this fountain I made a few summers ago, it brings me a lot of joy to watch the birds and bees come by to quench their thirst, take a bath, or to cool down. Originally the idea was to provide a bowl of water filled with stones for bees to drink during the hotter months, but it turned into an example of what is possible by following inspiration from a small idea.

Before I started I had no idea where it would lead me, and I certainly didn't have a hanging fountain in mind. Each element required either lessons or research. The bowl itself was changed out several times before finally finding the pièce de la résistance you see here, and I had to learn macrame to get the hanger length I wanted.

As I worked on this project I often thought that it was good enough and didn't want to give it any more time or energy; but inspirations continued and I followed until until I finally got to this point. From a bowl of water with rocks, to bird bath, and finally a beautiful hanging fountain for all to enjoy.

It is a project I continue to cherish. Sometimes I cannot believe I made this, but I totally love and enjoy the life it attracts and the beauty it has added to my yard. I love tending to it and keeping the water fresh and full for the birds, bees and dragonflies, and I miss it when I have to put it away for the colder months, but this only makes it more welcome the next warm season.

If you are inspired, follow... take one small step then another... allow your idea to grow and become more, don't rush it, just keep following those inspirations to the end; You just don't know where those seeds will take you or who or what will benefit from your efforts.

Have a great Summer!
